Patanjali Yoga Sutra 1.19

Swami Vivekananda's translation

(This Samadhi when not followed by extreme non-attachment) becomes the cause of the re-manifestation of the gods and of those that become merged in nature.

Vyasa Bhashya (English Translation)

Bhava-pratyaya (Samadhi born of worldly existence / birth) is for the discarnate ones (videha) and those absorbed in primary matter (prakriti-laya). || 19 || Bhava-pratyaya (Samadhi caused by worldly existence) is for the videhas (discarnate) gods. For they, with their minds utilizing mere latent impressions (samskaras), experience a state similar to kaivalya (liberation), and they pass out the maturation of their samskaras of that kind. Similarly, the prakriti-layas (those absorbed in primary matter), while their mind still has its task unfulfilled but is absorbed in prakriti, experience a state similar to kaivalya, until the mind returns again (to worldly existence) on account of its unfulfilled task. || 19 ||
