Sanskrit

वधीं वृत्रं मरुत इन्द्रियेण स्वेन भामेन तविषो बभूवान् । अहमेता मनवे विश्वश्चन्द्राः सुगा अपश्चकर वज्रबाहुः ॥

Transliteration

vadhīṃ vṛtram maruta indriyeṇa svena bhāmena taviṣo babhūvān | aham etā manave viśvaścandrāḥ sugā apaś cakara vajrabāhuḥ ||

Translation

(Indra): By my own prowess, Maruts, I, mighty in my wrath, slew Vṛtra; armed with my thunderbolt, I created all these pellucid, easily-flowing waters for the good of man.


Verse 1.165.10

एकस्य चिन्मे विभ्वस्त्वोजो या नु दधृष्वान्कृणवै मनीषा । अहं ह्युग्रो मरुतो विदानो यानि च्यवमिन्द्र इदीश एषाम् ॥

Transliteration

ekasya cin me vibhv astv ojo yā nu dadhṛṣvān kṛṇavai manīṣā | ahaṃ hy ugro maruto vidāno yāni cyavam indra id īśa eṣām ||

(Indra): May the prowess of me alone be irresistible; may I quickly accomplish whatever I contemplate in my mind; for verily, Maruts, I am fierce and sagacious, and to whatever objects I direct my thoughts, of them I am the lord and ruler.
