श्रीलक्ष्मीधरकविविरचितः अद्वैतमकरन्दः

Sanskrit

अहमस्मि सदा भामि कदाचिन्नाहमप्रियः । ब्रह्मैवाऽहमतः सिद्धं सच्चिदानन्दलक्षणम् ॥ २॥

aham asmi sadā bhāmi kadācin nāham apriyaḥ | brahmaivāhaṁ ataḥ siddhaṁ saccidānandalakṣaṇam || 2 ||

Translation

I exist, I shine always, I am never unpleasant. Therefore, it is established that I am Brahman itself, whose nature is Existence-Consciousness-Bliss.

Sanskrit

मय्येवोदेति चिद्व्योम्नि जगद्गन्धर्वपत्तनम् । अतोऽहं न कथं ब्रह्म सर्वज्ञं सर्वकारणम् ॥ ३॥

mayy evodeti cidvyomni jagadgandharvapattanam | ato’haṁ na kathaṁ brahma sarvajñaṁ sarvakāraṇam || 3 ||

Translation

In me alone, the space of Consciousness, the world arises like a city of Gandharvas (a mirage). Therefore, why am I not Brahman, the omniscient and the cause of all?

साक्षी सर्वान्वितः प्रेयानहं नाहं कदाचन । परिणामपरिच्छेदपरितापैरुपप्लवात् ॥ ९॥

sākṣī sarvānvitaḥ preyān ahaṁ nāhaṁ kadācana | pariṇāmaparicchedaparitāpairupaplavāt || 9 ||

Translation

I am the Witness, pervading all, the beloved. I am never the (ego) “I”, for that is afflicted by change, limitation, and suffering.

षड्विकारवतां वेत्ता निर्विकारोऽहमन्यथा । तद्विकारानुसन्धानं सर्वथा नावकल्पते ॥ १३॥

ṣaḍvikāravatāṁ vettā nirvikāro’ham anyathā | tadvikārānusandhānaṁ sarvathā nāvakalpate || 13 ||

Translation

I am the knower of the six modifications, myself being changeless. Otherwise, the perception of those modifications would be impossible in every way.

आत्माज्ञानमहानिद्राजृम्भितेऽस्मिन् जगन्मये । दीर्घस्वप्ने स्फुरन्त्येते स्वर्गमोक्षादिविभ्रमाः ॥

ātmājñānamahānidrājṛmbhite’smin jaganmaye | dirghasvapne sphurantyete svargamokṣādivibhramāḥ ||

Translation

In this world-appearance, which is a result of the yawn of the great sleep of self-ignorance, the delusions of heaven, liberation, etc., appear as in a long dream.

अहमेव सुखं नान्यदन्यच्चेन्नैव तत् सुखम् । अमदर्थं न हि प्रेयो मदर्थं न स्वतः प्रियम् ॥ २४॥

aham eva sukhaṁ nānyad anyac cen naiva tat sukham | amadarthaṁ na hi preyo madarthaṁ na svataḥ priyam || 24 ||

Translation

I alone am happiness, nothing else. If something else were happiness, it would not be (truly) happiness. Nothing is dear for its own sake, but only for the sake of the Self; and the Self is dear for its own sake.

परोक्षतापरिच्छेदशाबल्यापोहनिर्मलम् । तदसीति गिरा लक्ष्यमहमेकरसं महः ॥ २६॥

parokṣatāparicchedaśābalyāpohanirmalam | tadasīti girā lakṣyam aham ekarasaṁ mahaḥ || 26 ||

Translation

Pure and free from the filters of indirectness and limitation, I am that one homogeneous light which is indicated by the words “That Thou Art” (Tat Tvam Asi).

उपशान्तजगज्जीवशिष्याचार्येश्वरभ्रमम् । स्वतः सिद्धमनाद्यन्तं परिपूर्णमहं महः ॥ २७॥

upaśāntajagajjīvaśiṣyācāryeśvarabhramam | svataḥsiddham anādyantaṁ paripūrṇam ahaṁ mahaḥ || 27 ||

Translation

Free from the delusions of the world, individual souls, students, teachers, and God, I am the self-established, beginningless, endless, and all-perfect Light.
