Muni's PlayPremapañcaka (The Five Verses on Love)
Sanskrit
प्रतिभासो वरः कान्तः प्रतीत्योत्पादमाचकः । न स्यात् यदि मृतैवा स्यात् शून्यता कामिनी मता ॥ १ ॥ (pratibhāso varaḥ kāntaḥ pratītyotpādamācakaḥ | na syāt yadi mṛtaiva syāt śūnyatā kāminī matā || 1 ||)
Translation
The appearance (pratibhāsa) is the supreme beloved, indicating dependent origination. If it were not so, then Emptiness (śūnyatā), considered the beloved woman, would be as if dead.
Sanskrit
शून्यताऽतिवरा कान्ता मूर्त्या निरुपमा तु या । पृथक् यदि कदाचित् स्यात् बम्दः स्यात् कान्तनायकः ॥ २ ॥ (śūnyatā’tivarā kāntā mūrtyā nirupamā tu yā | pṛthak yadi kadācit syāt bamdhaḥ syāt kāntanāyakaḥ || 2 ||)
Translation
Emptiness is the most excellent beloved, whose form is indeed incomparable. If they (appearance and emptiness) were ever separate, the beloved lord would be in bondage.

दम्पतौ शंकितौ तस्मात् गुरोरुपस्थितौ पुरः । निजप्रीत्या तयोस्तेन सहजं प्रेम कारितम् ॥ ३ ॥ (dampatau śaṅkitau tasmāt guror upasthitau puraḥ | nijaprītyā tayostena sahajaṃ prema kāritam || 3 ||)
Translation
Therefore, the two—the couple—full of doubt, approached the Guru. Through their own affection, he brought about their innate (sahaja) love.

वायुसद्गुरुपाण्डित्यमहाकौशलमौदृशम् । निजवेधनिरालम्बवुभौ जातवनुत्तरौ ॥ ४ ॥ (vāyu-sadguru-pāṇḍitya-mahākauśala-mādṛśam | nijavedha-nirālambāv ubhau jātavanuttarau || 4 ||)
Translation
Through the wisdom of the true Guru and such great skill regarding the vital force (vāyu); Both, through their own piercing and being unsupported, became unsurpassed.

सर्वलक्षणसम्पूर्णौ चतुर्द्वयविवर्जितौ । सर्वभावस्वभावौ च निःस्वभावौ सदोदितौ ॥ ५ ॥ (sarva-lakṣaṇasaṃpūrṇau caturdvaya-vivarjitau | sarvabhāva-svabhāvau ca niḥsvabhāvau sadoditau || 5 ||)
Translation
Perfect in all characteristics, free from the four dualities; Being the nature of all things, yet without inherent nature—they are eternally arisen.
॥ प्रेमपञ्चकम् समाप्तम् ॥
