३ बोधिचित्तपरिग्रहो नाम तृतीयः परिच्छेदः।

Sanskrit

दीपार्थिनामहं दीपः शय्या शय्यार्थिनामहम्।
दासार्थिनामहं दासो भवेयं सर्वदेहिनाम्॥१८॥

dīpārthināmahaṃ dīpaḥ śayyā śayyārthināmaham | dāsārthināmahaṃ dāso bhaveyaṃ sarvadehinām ||18||

Translation

May I be a lamp for those who need a lamp, a bed for those who need a bed, and a servant for all beings who need a servant.

Sanskrit

चिन्तामणिर्भद्रघटः सिद्धविद्या महौषधिः।
भवेयं कल्पवृक्षश्च कामधेनुश्च देहिनाम्॥१९॥

cintāmaṇirbhadraghaṭaḥ siddhavidyā mahauṣadhiḥ | bhaveyaṃ kalpavṛkṣaśca kāmadhenuśca dehinām ||19||

Translation

May I be a wishing-gem, a vase of fortune, a powerful spell, a great medicine, a wish-granting tree, and a cow of plenty for all beings.

Sanskrit

पृथिव्यादीनि भूतानि निःशेषाकाशवासिनाम्।
सत्त्वानामप्रमेयाणां यथाभोगान्यनेकधा॥२०॥

pṛthivyādīni bhūtāni niḥśeṣākāśavāsinām | sattvānāmaprameyāṇāṃ yathābhogānyanekadhā ||20||

Translation

Just as the earth and other elements are useful in many ways to the infinite number of beings dwelling in boundless space,

Sanskrit

एवमाकाशनिष्ठस्य सत्त्वधातोरनेकधा।
भवेयमुपजीव्योऽहं यावत्सर्वे न निर्वृताः॥२१॥

evamākāśaniṣṭhasya sattvadhātoranekadhā | bhaveyamupajīvyo’haṃ yāvatsarve na nirvṛtāḥ ||21||

Translation

So may I be a source of livelihood in many ways for the beings who reach the ends of space, until they all attain Nirvana.

Sanskrit

अद्य मे सफलं जन्म सुलब्धो मानुषो भवः।
अद्य बुद्धकुले जातो बुद्धपुत्रोऽस्मि सांप्रतम्॥२५॥

adya me saphalaṃ janma sulabdho mānuṣo bhavaḥ | adya buddhakule jāto buddhaputro’smi sāṃpratam ||25||

Translation

Today my life is fruitful; my human existence is well-obtained. Today I am born into the family of the Buddha; now I am a son of the Buddha.

Sanskrit

तथाधुना मया कार्यं स्वकुलोचितकारिणाम्।
निर्मलस्य कुलस्यास्य कलङ्को न भवेद्यथा॥२६॥

tathādhunā mayā kāryaṃ svakulocitakāriṇām | nirmalasya kulasyāsya kalaṅko na bhavedyathā ||26||

Translation

Therefore, I must now act in accordance with my family; I must act so that no stain may befall this pure family.

Sanskrit

अन्धः संकारकूटेभ्यो यथा रत्नमवाप्नुयात्।
तथा कथंचिदप्येतद् बोधिचित्तं ममोदितम्॥२७॥

andhaḥ saṃkārakūṭebhyo yathā ratnamavāpnuyāt | tathā kathañcidapyetad bodhicittaṃ mamoditam ||27||

Translation

Just as a blind man might find a jewel in a heap of rubbish, so, by some coincidence, this Bodhicitta has been born within me.
