१ बोधिचित्तानुशंसो नाम प्रथमः परिच्छेदः।

Sanskrit

तद्बोधिचित्तं द्विविधं विज्ञातव्यं समासतः।
बोधिप्रणिधिचित्तं च बोधिप्रस्थानमेव च॥१५॥

tadbodhicittaṃ dvividhaṃ vijñātavyaṃ samāsataḥ | bodhipraṇidhicittaṃ ca bodhiprasthānameva ca ||15||

Translation

That Bodhicitta should be known briefly to be of two kinds: the Mind of Aspiration for Enlightenment (bodhi-praṇidhi-citta) and the Mind of Engagement in Enlightenment (bodhi-prasthāna-citta).

बोधिप्रणिधिचित्तस्य संसारेऽपि फलं महत्।
न त्वविच्छिन्नपुण्यत्वं यथा प्रस्थानचेतसः॥१७॥

bodhipraṇidhicittasya saṃsāre ‘pi phalaṃ mahat | na tvavicchinnapuṇyatvaṃ yathā prasthānacetasaḥ ||17||

Translation

The Mind of Aspiration for Enlightenment has great fruit even within cyclic existence, but its merit is not uninterrupted in the way that it is for the Mind of Engagement.
